To allow our staff more time with their loved ones, we are adjusting our holiday hours the week of Thanksgiving. Please stop by between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM for a book, a quiet space, a puzzle, or whatever else you may need. We can’t wait to see you!
Moving Things Around
We have recently made a few changes to the Young Adult and Reference sections in the library. After running reports, we saw that the “humor” genre wasn’t circulating well. Plus, it was one of the smaller sections. Then, we realized that the Reference section wasn’t circulating since most patrons have access to our online reference databases. Because we want to make the most of the space we have, we decided to make some moves. Check out what we’ve done:
Young Adult
- Display Shelf for students – we now have a space to create student-specific displays when they walk into the library from the school.
- Fantasy – we spread out fantasy so you can find your favorite series.
- Historical and Horror – these genres are smaller, so they can now be found on the same row. Check the end caps for posters; they’ll tell you what genre is on the row.
- Graphic Novel and Manga – these sections are now spread out so you can find the manga series you want with ease!
Reference
- Egyptian collection – this section is more prominent and easier to find on the reference wall.
- Activities, games, and puzzles – our patrons have really enjoyed the games and puzzles we have in the library. We decided to make them easier to access for everyone with their very own section. We also added some great activities and sensory play for patrons of all ages.

2022 Lariat Reading List
The Texas Library Association has announced its 2022 Lariat Reading List for adults: The goal of the Lariat Adult Fiction Reading List is to highlight outstanding fiction that is “simply a pleasure to read.” To that end, a committee of librarians from the Texas Library Association annually selects 25 outstanding fiction titles (TLA Website).
The library has acquired a few of these titles, and they can be found in a small display when you first enter the library. If you click the link above (Lariat Reading List), you can read a short synopsis about each title.
