2022 Lariat Reading List

The Texas Library Association has announced its 2022 Lariat Reading List for adults: The goal of the Lariat Adult Fiction Reading List is to highlight outstanding fiction that is “simply a pleasure to read.” To that end, a committee of librarians from the Texas Library Association annually selects 25 outstanding fiction titles (TLA Website).

The library has acquired a few of these titles, and they can be found in a small display when you first enter the library. If you click the link above (Lariat Reading List), you can read a short synopsis about each title.

Decoration Donation

We’ve had two kind souls donate Christmas trees to the library, but we still need lights, ornaments, wreaths, etc. Since we’re starting from scratch, we would be so grateful for your donations. We really want to get in the Christmas spirit, especially with our community concert coming up on December 9th!
You can drop them off at the library during open hours. The library is open Monday through Thursday from 3:30 to 7:00 PM.

How to Design Bows Class for Adults

Monday, October 18th, Dylan from Designs by Dylan in Longview will teach a class on how to make and design gorgeous bows for wreaths, garlands, and gift wrapping. The cost for the class is $12 and can be paid with cash or check the night of the event. We do need a head count to know how much supplies to provide, so we ask that you please fill out the following form: https://forms.gle/jp92T2QYwsvnHV5w6

Dylan will also bring completed Christmas wreaths for you to purchase, if interested. We can’t wait to see you all!

Therapy Dogs of Gregg County

The Therapy Dogs of Gregg County will be at the library this Thursday, September 23 at 6:00-7:00 pm, and we would love to see you there! Children and adults are invited to come see, pet, play, and/or read to the dogs during their time at the library.

Library Reveal!

Today is the day, and we are so excited to share photos with you of the updated library space! We have worked hard all summer long to create a space that works best for you. Come in soon and have a look around the space.

Latest Happenings at the Library

If you’ve been in the library lately, you may have noticed some changes happening. We have moved the sections around to make it easier for you to find exactly what you’re looking for. All adult fiction is against the back wall with young adult fiction in the cases that used to hold nonfiction. All nonfiction is now on the wall where fiction used to be, and it is separated by Dewey sections. Not sure what this is? No problem! We’re creating signs with each section and the topics found in that section. We’ve been working really hard this summer and can’t wait for you to see everything!
